G.A.M.E.S Scholarship History

The GAMES (Greater Augusta Medal for Excellence in Sports) Scholarship began in 2011 as part of the Augusta Sports Council’s annual G.A.M.E.S. Awards and was created to highlight outstanding amateur athletes who represented a broad spectrum of sports disciplines in the area. To date, the Augusta Sports Council has awarded over $88,000 in college scholarships to 78 graduating high school student-athletes in the Augusta community.

G.A.M.E.S Scholarship Criteria

  • All nominees must be at least of high school age and residents of the Greater Augusta area, which includes Richmond, Columbia, Burke, McDuffie, Wilkes, Warren and Aiken Counties.

  • The student must be a graduating high school senior in May/June 2024 or be attending a post-secondary institute.

  • The student must be accepted in an accredited, degree- producing college or university

  • All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in or the capacity in which they participate.

  • Non-statistical data (Grade Point Average, civic involvement, etc.) will be considered in the overall evaluation of the candidate.

  • Factors of race, religion, creed, and/or school affiliation shall never constitute grounds for including or excluding any nominee.

  • The scholarship is to be used during the 2024-2025 academic year and the money can be applied toward tuition, fees, room/board and school supplies!

  • Winners will be announced in May of 2024.

  • Nominations must be received by April 1, 2024.
